May 22 Mission-Bravo advanced handgun skill building after action review (AAR) I put this class out at short notice since we got no response (from all the husbands asking for beginners class for their wives) for the scheduled introduction to pistol marksmanship class that we had originally scheduled. So I had planned on taking a couple of my people out and putting them through an advanced “skill builder”. I put together a curriculum that was worthy of a comparison to the legend, Chuck Taylor, and we ran through everything from dry fire to timed drills on each and every evolution. Including 1 handed E-reloads. Everyone seemed to do very well with the curriculum and open to suggestions on how to change-modify-improve upon a variety of techniques & target acquisition. A couple realized that old habits are hard to break. But quickly began to understand the reason behind the changes in modern tactical and defensive pistol shooting. Especially trying to complete the handgun qualification course. We finished off the day pretty much the normal schedule, around 1530, using the full day even though we had only planned on 9 AM to 1 PM. And as always, I was very happy to see one of my VBSS team babies out there making daddy happy. He was breaking in his brand-new Glock 19-X, which is probably going to need a little lubrication after yesterday. But it’s always great to have any of my VBSS guys & gals show up to any of my classes. Skills are perishable so I’m glad to see that a couple of them do take every opportunity to keep their skill set sharp.
