Defensive Shotgun Course Requirements

***No SAIGA's***
NO TAVOR BULLPUPS OR SIMILAR
NO Semi-automatics
NO Mossberg shockwave
NO Remington Tac 14 or similar pistol grip shotgun
Pump action action shotguns only. 

Our defensive shotgun class is designed to help the operator better understand and manipulate the standard pump action shotgun. There are NO exceptions to the list above or similar variations.
​The introduction to our Tactical Shotgun course is designed to increase the student’s current skill level when employing the shotgun. This course will equip you with the tools for effective, safe, and competent usage of the most versatile firearm ever made. Regardless of whether you have used a shotgun for years as a hunter, competitor, for home defense, or in a Law Enforcement / Military capacity, this course will significantly improve your skills, confidence and performance under pressure. 

The course will consist of several segments, including approximately 1 hour of classroom instruction on firearm safety, firearm operation, and the cognitive aspects of shotgun employment. 

Classroom instruction is followed by a day of progressively challenging drills where the student will employ the shotgun from a variety of shooting positions while under stress. These drills will force the athlete to employ cognitive abilities while operating the shotgun. Upon completion of this course the shooter will have an in-depth understanding of firearm safety, shotgun handling and marksmanship, and the ability to properly identify how to employ the shotgun based on the target presented.

Course Objective: The student will gain a high level of confidence in their ability to safely and effectively employ the shotgun in a variety of situations.

Enabling Objectives:
  •  General firearms safety
  •  Verify safe loading and unloading procedure
  •  Action types and Cycle of Operation (Pump-action and Semi-auto)
  •  Ammunition and Choke selection
  •  Zeroing and Pattering
  •  Fundamentals of Shotgun employment
  •  Combat and Tactical Reloads
  •  Malfunction drills
  •  Select Slug Exchange 
  •  Non-standard shooting positions

Prerequisite: A basic understanding of firearms safety and operation.
Training schedule: Show time is 7:30 am with instruction starting at 8:00 am and ending at 5 pm. A one hour period is allotted for lunch.

Individual equipment (Student Furnished):
  •  Shotgun (12 gauge or 20 gauge) ***NO SAIGAS allowed, PUMP GUNS ONLY!
  •  Side Saddle (optional) * Mounts to receiver for additional rounds on the shotgun.
  •  Shell caddies for belt or chest rig with shell holders (optional)
  •  Knee and elbow pads (optional)

​COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
  1. ROUNDS, 10 slugs-25 buckshot-250 birdshot
  2. Your own shotgun*** with a sturdy sling 
  • ***NO SAIGA'S - TAVORS - MOSSBERG SHOCKWAVE - REMINGTON TAC 14's - OR SIMILAR PISTOL GRIP SHOTGUNS. PUMP GUNS ONLY. NO SEMI AUTO.  
  • If you don’t own a shotgun, you can contact Kaneohe gun shop for options to rent one.
  1. Note pad, sharpie
  2. Eye protection
  3. Hearing protection
  4. Covered shoes
  5. Long pants
  6. Long sleeve shirt
  7. Sun screen
  8. Suitable hat for sun protection
  9. Food/lunch
  10. Water
  11. Let us know prior to class if you have any allergies-illness or medical limitations.
  12. Let us know if you have any physical limitations
  13. Band aids or sports tape.
  14. If you require any medications, Epi pens etc. you must inform medic on site before start of class.
  15. Dump bag
  16. Wearing body armor is optional.
19.ANY PREVIOUS FELONY CONVICTIONS, PENDING LAUTENBERG (DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CHARGES) AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFY YOU, AND YES, WE CHECK.
